Uterus-supporting pessary

Intended purpose

A device made of rubber or soft plastics designed for insertion into the vagina to hold the uterus in place. It is usually available in many shapes (e.g., rings, stems) and sizes; it may be fitted for each woman individually. It is used either as a permanent or temporary treatment of uterine prolapse (falling or sliding of the uterus from its normal position into the pelvic cavity). This is a reusable device after appropriate cleaning.
