Polaris® Adjustable Pressure Valve with SiphonX® - Valve, hydrocephalic
Device Dossier for Polaris® Adjustable Pressure Valve with SiphonX® - Valve, hydrocephalic (Valve, hydrocephalic, Class III, sponsor Life Healthcare).…
- GMDN category: Valve, hydrocephalic
Intended purpose
The Polaris® adjustable pressure valve is intended to shunt the Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) from the ventricular system or subarachnoid spaces to the peritoneal cavity (VPS) or the right atrium of the heart where it will be reabsorbed in the blood flow. It is preconnected to SiphonX® which is a valve accessory designed to limit the siphon effect during cerebro-spinal fluid drainage.
Functional description
The valve contains a ball-in-cone mechanism which determines the operating pressure of the valve. The SiphonX® is a valve accessory designed to limit the siphon effect during cerebro-spinal fluid drainage. It adds 200 mmgH2O to the operating pressure of the valve in vertical position.
