Bed/chair occupancy sensor

Device Category Dossier for Bed/chair occupancy sensor. Australian ARTG records, sponsors, device class — compiled by arcimedes.

Bed and chair occupancy sensors are devices intended to detect patient occupancy of a bed or a chair. These devices generate an alarm to alert care staff of a patient's movement, with the localised alarm able to transmit to a pager or other devices such as a remote LED display and integrated into a nurse call system within a caring facility. Occupancy sensors are used in residents with dementia, vision impairment or who are frail with a risk of falls, helping caregivers reduce the risk of falls and pressure sores by tracking bed user position or movements and providing alerts to prevent or minimise these risks.
