Bite blocks are devices used to reproducibly position the mouth, tongue or lips and comprise dental impression material surrounding a tongue depressor and plastic tube for breathing through. They are used during radiotherapy treatment of the head and neck and to protect the teeth, tongue and airway during the administration of electroconvulsive therapy.
