Implantable pacemaker systems comprise a pacemaker and leads that sense the intrinsic heart rhythm and provide pacing through low-energy electrical pulses, as well as antitachycardia pacing when necessary to ensure stable heart rate. These devices detect and treat chronic symptomatic bradyarrhythmia and atrioventricular conduction abnormalities by providing sensing and pacing in the right ventricle and right atrium, and resynchronise the right and left ventricles via biventricular pacing.
