Manometric balloon catheters are inserted via nasal intubation into the oesophagus to monitor and measure intrathoracic pressure changes related to respiration. These devices measure intraluminal gastrointestinal pressures when used with a manometric perfusion pump to assist in diagnosing patients with gastrointestinal motor function disorders.
