Compression garments are non-sterile inflatable devices in the form of stockings, sleeves, or suits applied externally to the limbs, applying pressure to the extremities through sequential inflation of multiple chambers as part of a compression system. They are used to increase venous blood flow in order to treat or prevent oedema, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism in non-ambulatory patients or those at risk.
