Dental cavity liner

Calcium hydroxide dental materials function as cavity liners and pulp-capping agents, with formulations that may be self-curing pastes or aqueous suspensions designed to protect the pulp from thermal and chemical insult. These materials are used clinically to line deep cavities, protect exposed pulp tissue, serve as temporary root canal dressings between endodontic appointments, and prevent pulp exposure and infection.
