Dilator, tracheal

Tracheal dilators are hand-held manual surgical instruments used during tracheal surgical intervention to dilate tracheal structures and passages, typically during the creation of a tracheostoma and for expanding the margins of a tracheostoma to assist in tracheostomy tube insertion. These devices consist of a slender hollow or solid body made of metal, plastic or other suitable material in cylindrical form and a variety of sizes and flexibilities.
