Oral gags are reusable, manually operated instruments intended to hold apart or maintain access to anatomical structures of the oral cavity during oral examination or dental procedures. They are used in ENT surgical procedures to maintain the mouth in an open position , and are also placed between the teeth of the upper and lower jaws to maintain an open oral cavity during emergent placement of an artificial airway or for oral or dental surgical intervention.
