Filter needles are large bore hollow needles with a filter in the hub that stops particulates , functioning to filter injectable solutions during administration . They are used in pharmacy settings to aspirate and transfer fluid medication from vials or ampules whilst retaining micro-particles through an integral filter to reduce the risk of particle contamination .
