Intraocular illuminators are instruments inserted into the eye or connected to ophthalmic surgical systems to provide light illumination to the posterior segment during eye surgery. These devices facilitate tissue manipulation, irrigation/aspiration and coagulation during ophthalmic procedures , and may also be used to help define ocular tumour boundaries by providing a direct light source.
