Ophthalmic surgical probes are slender, rod-like, hand-held manual instruments with various tip shapes including blunt bulbous, probing, and hooked configurations, made from flexible or rigid metallic and/or synthetic polymer material, designed to explore, manipulate and/or measure ocular tissues without cutting tissue or hooking muscles. These instruments are used in ophthalmic surgery for tissue exploration and manipulation, retraction of intraocular structures, lens nucleus splitting, and implantation or positioning of intraocular lenses.
