Spinal orthoses are externally applied orthopaedic appliances designed to encompass all or part of the spine of the trunk to support or immobilise deformities, fractures, sprains, or strains of the spine. These devices are used clinically to manage idiopathic scoliosis and adult scoliosis in children and adults, hyperkyphosis in adults and children, and pelvic girdle pain in pregnant women, low back pain sufferers and sports people.
