Screw extractors are sterile, hand-held manual surgical tools designed to remove implanted screws that have a damaged screw recess by self-tapping into the defective recess or head and providing sufficient grip to rotate and remove the screw. These instruments are indicated to assist the removal of screws, capture fractured screws that have been drilled by a screw removal drill, or assist the removal of abutments with internal threads stuck to implants.
