Trocars are sterile surgical instruments featuring a sharp pyramidal or conical point that punctures the abdominal wall, and when assembled with a compatible sleeve, the assembly is introduced through the puncture site before the trocar is withdrawn to provide a working channel to the cavity. These devices are used during laparoscopy to create points of entry for laparoscopic instruments into the abdominal cavity and to allow passage of instruments during surgical procedures.
