Intended purpose

A polyethylene cup insert component used with a cementless acetabular cup as part of the primary operation of the hip joint impaired by conditions such as arthrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, femoral neck fractures, avascular necrosis, or hip dysplasia.

Functional description

Crosslinked UHMWPE insert for use with Ecofit cups. 10° lateral lip to provide greater coverage of the femoral head. Liners are coupled to the metal shell by 2 mechanisms: a taper fit between the liner and the metal shell via a conical taper of the exterior surface of the liner to match the conical taper/inner diameter size of the metal shell, and a snap fit mechanism of 4 lugs on the inferior aspect of the PE liner that snap into a circumferential groove at the bottom of the metal shell.
