Intended purpose

The CSF Ventriculostomy Reservoirs, when attached to Ventricular Catheters, provide access to the lateral cerebral ventricles, to cystic tumours, and to debulked tumour cavities via hypodermic puncture for the injection of chemotherapeutic agents and/or radioisotopes. Reservoirs are useful in obtaining CSF samples for cytological and chemical studies, for monitoring ventricular fluid pressure, and for ventricular drainage. CSF Ventriculostomy Reservoirs may be used independently as reservoirs, or a component of CSF shunts.

Functional description

The CSF Ventriculostomy reservoir is designed to provide percutaneous access to the ventricular cerebrospinal fluid through a polypropylene base and silicon elastomer dome reservoir unit connected to a ventricular catheter. The reservoir functions independently or as a component of a CSF shunt.
