Ventricular drainage systems are packaged collections of items that include externally placed tubing attachable to intracranial ventricular catheters to allow sterile drainage and measurement of cerebrospinal fluid, with some systems also enabling monitoring of intracranial pressure. These devices are used clinically to drain cerebrospinal fluid from the lateral ventricles of the brain or lumbar subarachnoid space and to monitor cerebrospinal fluid pressure and flow rate in patients requiring ventricular access.
