Intended purpose
A sterile, hand-held manual instrument designed primarily for non-dedicated grasping of devices, sponges, dressings and/or eye tissues during ophthalmic surgical procedures. It typically has a tweezers-like design with two blades joined at the proximal (non-working) end with variously designed tips at the working end designed for optimal grasping of the respective material, be it eye tissues, devices or materials. It is available in various sizes, configurations and lengths and the tips may have teeth, corrugations or sharp tips (for piercing of tissues) or have smooth ends and surfaces. It is made of high-grade stainless steel and is a single-use device.
