Surgical grasping forceps are hand-held manual instruments with a tweezers-like design comprising two blades joined at the proximal end with variously designed tips at the working end , primarily for non-dedicated grasping of devices, sponges and/or dressings during surgical procedures . These instruments are used for holding swabs, sponges and dressings in gynaecological and surgical procedures .
