Intended purpose

A reusable, hand-held non-invasive component of a diagnostic ultrasound imaging system designed to scan a plane through the body that can be viewed as graphical data on the ultrasound diagnostic system screen. Images and measurements of the anatomical structures of soft tissues such as internal organs and vascularity can be determined during a variety of extracorporeal ultrasound imaging procedures. These ultrasound transducers can be sometimes referred to as an ultrasound probe.
