Device Category Dossier for Extracorporeal ultrasound imaging system transducer, hand-held. Australian ARTG records, sponsors, device class — compiled by…

Hand-held extracorporeal ultrasound imaging transducers are noninvasive components designed to be moved over a patient's body surface with coupling gel, converting electric voltages into ultrasound waves, detecting returning echoes, and transmitting signal data to an ultrasound system controller for image processing and display. These devices are used for general-purpose ultrasound imaging applications to visualise surrounding organs by moving the transducer over the intact body surface.
