Iris retractor, single-use

Intended purpose

A single-use, flexible, ophthalmic surgical instrument used for the temporary mechanical dilatation of the margins of the iris during ophthalmic surgery. It is typically designed as a flexible hook that is positioned over the edge of the iris and retracted in order to mechanically widen the pupil diameter temporarily, to facilitate ophthalmic surgery in the posterior chamber of the eye. It may be used when pharmacological dilatation of the iris is not possible or ineffective.
