Device Dossier for METS Proximal Tibial Modular System, Tibial Stem - Knee stem (Knee stem, Class III, sponsor Stryker). ARTG record, intended purpose,…
Intended purpose
The Tibial Stem is a component of the METS Proximal Tibial Modular System which is designed as a modular system that can be used to replace diseased or deficient bone in the proximal tibia. The indications for this modular massive endoprosthetic system are: • Primary bone tumours • Secondary tumours arising in bone • Non-neoplastic conditions affecting the shafts of long bones • Failed joint replacements • Failed massive replacements
Functional description
The tibial stem is a component of the METS Proximal Tibial Modular System. It is made from Titanium and is 120mm long. It is assembled together with a proximal tibial component, shaft and collar. In order to optimise the implant fixation and strength, it is recommended that the largest stem diameter be chosen whilst still maintaining a minimum of 1mm cement mantle. Where thicker cortex is present, consider reaming the canal to accommodate the largest possible stem. For cemented use only.
