Intended purpose

The sterile disposable recording and stimulation probes for application on the CNS are intended for transient use during intraoperative procedures for direct nerve stimulation, direct cortical stimulation and for subcortical stimulation.

Functional description

The bipolar probes consist of an active and passive electrode. It enables exact identification of a nerve or a brain area, as the electrical stimulation current of the probe is focused proximate to the tip of the probe. The affected radius depends on the electrical conduction of the tissue, of contact pressure and of the adjusted current. The monopolar probes require one reference electrode which must be punctured outside the stimulation area.
