Intended purpose

A cylindrical pin-shaped instrument, typically with a single or double trocar tip. The device is intended for transient fixation, and may be used in a variety of ways: (1) to hold a plate in the correct position, (2) to guide the position of a cannulated screw or drill, and (3) to align and/or reduce two or more bones or bone fragments. The device may be inserted through a wire guide to control the boring action.
