Intended purpose

Punctal occluders, sometimes referred to as plugs, are indicated for the treatment of “dry eye” syndrome. Dry eye is a condition where there is insufficient lubrication in the eye and the conjunctiva becomes much less moist than normal. Treatment is to stop the outflow of tears via a specific punctum to enhance tear contact time in certain dry eye conditions.
