Intended purpose

A device used in the treatment of the anatomical abnormalities of vertebrae typically due to degenerative intervertebral disks. The device can be of several different geometric forms and is implanted between the bones or bone grafts of the spine providing mechanical stability and sufficient space for therapeutic spinal bone fusion to occur. This process helps to relieve pressure on pinched nerves and prevents vertebral slipping. The device may be made of metal, polymer, or other artificial or biological materials, or it may be a combination of these.
