Intended purpose
Intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic surgery, peripheral nerve anastomosis and microsurgery for vessels less than 2 mm diameter.
Functional description
Synthetic absorbable suture composed of Polyglactin (910). The needles may be attached permanently or as control release. Combinations with needles are available with are suitable for application in a magnetic field. The needles are bicoloured (silver/black) and the labelling shows MRI. Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength followed by a loss of mass. All the original tensile strength is lost by five weeks post implantation with only slight tissue reaction.
