Bone graft substitutes are devices intended to fill bony voids or gaps that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bony structure, and function by being packed into bone defects where they resorb and are replaced with bone during the natural healing process. These devices are used across the skeletal system including the posterolateral spine, pelvis, ilium and extremities to address surgically created osseous defects or those resulting from traumatic injury.
