Intramedullary nails for the humerus are metal rods inserted into the intramedullary canal of the humerus that act as immobilisation devices to hold the ends of a fractured bone in position. These devices provide temporary stabilisation of various types of proximal and diaphyseal fractures of the humerus , and may also be used to support the bone in the presence of a pathological condition.
