Spinal fixation devices are internal implants comprising rods, screws, hooks, wires and connectors that provide immobilisation, correction and stabilisation of spinal segments as an adjunct to fusion of the thoracic, lumbar, and/or sacral spine . These devices are used in spinal trauma surgery, spinal reconstructive surgery for correction of deformities such as scoliosis and kyphosis, and spinal degenerative surgery to aid in bone fracture repair and development of solid bony fusion .
