Orthopaedic cement compressors are typically made of compressible silicone rubber that conforms to the shape of cut bone, with cement injected through the device into the bone cavity using a syringe whilst pressure is applied via a backplate or stainless steel handle. These devices are used during total hip replacement procedures to compress orthopaedic bone cement within the acetabulum and/or femur in order to optimise the interdigitation of the cement into the inner bone structure and improve fixation of the implant.
