Vascular stents are device support structures that expand and remain in place inside blood vessels to maintain patency, delivered via a balloon catheter which is inflated to expand the stent and then withdrawn whilst the stent stays as a permanent implant. These devices are used to treat stenotic lesions across various vascular territories including carotid arteries, peripheral vessels, and intracranial cerebral arteries affected by atherosclerotic disease.
