Blood gas sensors for cardiopulmonary bypass consist of clear cells attached to a transducer that connect to the extracorporeal circuit, creating a sealed window through which the patient's blood gas saturation may be measured. These devices are used in adult and pediatric surgical procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass to monitor venous and arterial oxygen saturation, haematocrit/hemoglobin, temperature, and arterial partial oxygen pressure.
