Dermal tissue reconstructive materials are used in combination with autologous split-thickness skin grafts to construct a neodermis that improves the quality of reconstituted tissue, reduces scarring, prevents wound contraction and restores functionality in deep dermal defects and full-thickness skin wounds. These materials are employed in plastic reconstructive surgery and in the surgical treatment of burns, trauma, dermatological diseases and poorly healing wounds including chronic wounds.
