Femoral hip prosthesis stems are total hip system components intended to replace the femur. They are used in cemented total hip arthroplasty to reduce or relieve pain and improve hip function in skeletally mature patients with conditions including non-inflammatory degenerative joint disease such as osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis, inflammatory degenerative joint disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, functional deformity correction, revision procedures where other treatments have failed, and treatment of non-union fractures of the proximal femur.
