Deep brain stimulation neurostimulators are implantable devices that generate electrical pulses and deliver stimulation through one or two leads and extensions to target brain structures. These systems are used to reduce symptoms of advanced Parkinson's disease through stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus or internal globus pallidus, and to suppress disabling tremor in essential tremor patients through stimulation of the ventral intermediate nucleus of the thalamus.
