Glenoid components are devices intended for use as components in shoulder joint arthroplasty , and they may be inserted either without bone cement or with bone cement depending on the design . These components are used to treat non-inflammatory degenerative joint disease including osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, fractures of the proximal humerus where other methods are inadequate, and difficult clinical management problems .
